FEDERAL LIFELINE ASSISTANCE
For anybody on low income, communication services are made more affordable by the FCC program called 'Lifeline'.
PROOF OF ELIGIBILITY
Only those who have proof of eligibility can partake in the program.
QUALIFICATIONS
In order to receive help, individuals must qualify according to either federal- or state-specific criteria. For example, it is available to some already on particular public assistance programs; this includes Medicaid, SNAP (supplemental nutrition assistance program), and more. Household income is also an important factor.
ONE ACCOUNT PER HOUSEHOLD
With the lifeline assistance program, only one account is allowed for each household; this includes either a wireless or a wireline account. When separate households exist under the same address, each will be eligible. For example, those in homeless shelters or nursing homes may apply. What about temporary addresses? Residents under these circumstances are eligible.
